“I don’t think about the story much. It’s the just outcome that I love. Each time I look at it, my brain perceives it in a different way.”
Name: Kai Wildsmith
Art materials: I Mainly pencil pen and alcohol pen. (Spectrum noir)
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m a transgender boy. I have some very severe mental health issues that I won’t go into detail about because both me and my doctors aren’t 100% sure either. The only release I have anymore is music and art, since I stopped drinking, smoking, and destroying myself.
Where does your inspiration come from?
I don’t have any ‘inspiration’ in particular. I’ve always been told that I’m a very creative person. I use myself and the people I love as inspiration and my interest in mental health and the things I see (hallucinations).
Tell us about your creative process.
When I have so much going on and my mind just can’t handle it anymore I just sit and draw. I don’t tend to plan or anything. I just draw, and to me it’s not me drawing it’s the negative energy inside me coming out through this pencil in a beautiful way.
What is the story behind your artwork, if any?
Each piece has a specific story. I don’t think about the story much. It’s just the outcome that I love. Each time I look at it, my brain perceives it in a different way.
